Earlier on Monday, videos of prisoners trooping out of a prison was shared online and it was claimed thugs hijacked the EndSARS protests and released prisoners in Benin.

Following the alleged jail break, the state government imposed a curfew on the state.

However, celebrities like Davido and Omoni Oboli amongst others, have taken to different social media platforms to share their opinions.

Some accused the state government of staging the jail break to get EndSARS protesters off the streets while others are asking how the prisoners left through the open gates without resistance from prison guards.

@anonbabie: “This is obviously a deliberate attempt to put an end to the #EndSars movement. Edo youths should resist the curfew imposed on them by the Governor. I expect more atrocities from the authorities impersonating the protesters. We need to be smart.”

@iam_harrybreezy: “I would like to state something, I grew up in Benin and I know that prison very well. I can boldly state that it’s almost impossible to break out from that prison, not to talk of a break out by protesters. The Edo State Govt will have to answer some questions”.
