Blackberry To Launch Two Android Phones This Year

Blackberry CEO John Chen has said the Canadian smartphone company, will produce mid-range Android phones this year (2016).

Speaking in a recent interview with a Middle East-based publication, the company’s CEO said that one smartphone will sport a full touchscreen and the other will come with a QWERTY keyboard, Both will run Android.

Cheng added that the phones will be priced around $300 to $400.

“We released our Android device just about when the high-end phone market went soft, so that was principally the reason behind the lukewarm response.

However, the execution could have been better because I tried to sell these phones through carriers as retail shops,” Chen said.

Blackberry, last year ventured into the Android Smartphone market with the Blackberry Priv.

The company recently announced it have sold 600,000 handsets during the past three months till March end, which was lower than 850,000 units predicted by analysts.
