Breaking: Court Permits El-Zakzaky, Wife To Travel Abroad

A federal high court in Kaduna, on Monday, granted bail to the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.

The bail is to allow the duo travel for medical treatment abroad.

The court held that the IMN leader and his wife would be accompanied for the medical treatment by officials of the Kaduna State government.

Recall that members of the movement and security forces have in time past engaged in several clashes over the continued detention of the IMN leader.

Few weeks ago, the Shiite group’s protest in Abuja turned violent leading to the death of several persons including a Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP and a journalist.

Zakzaky and his wife were detained in 2015 by the federal government after scores were killed during a clash between Shiites and Army in Zaria, Kaduna state.
