BREAKING: Court Relaxes Sowore’s Bail Condition

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has relaxed Omoyele Sowore’s bail condition which included N100 million with two sureties in like sum.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who heard Sowore’s application seeking a variation in his bail conditions on Monday, maintained the publisher’s bail at N100m.

Ojukwu however set aside the N50 million security deposit required to be made by one of Sowore’s sureties.

The judge also reduced the N50 million bail of Sowore’s co-accused, Olawale Bakare, to N20 million and one surety in like sum.

Justice Ojukwu noted, however, that all other aspects of the bail conditions handed to Sowore and Bakare remained.

The condition included that they must not speak to the media and must not travel outside Abuja through out the period of their trial.

The judge then adjourned the case to November 6 and 7.

Sowore had been arrested by Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) over his plan to stage what he described as the #RevolutionNow protest against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
