BREAKING: Grant Atiku Access To Electoral Materials, Court Orders INEC

The defeated presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, secured a court judgement ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow him examine all electoral materials used in conducting the February 23 presidential election where he lost to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

The judgement was delivered by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja following an ex-parte motion filed by Mr Atiku at the said court.

A three-man panel comprising  Abdul Aboki, Peter Ige and Emmanuel Agim ordered INEC to grant the PDP presidential candidate’s request to inspect the registers and other vital material such as card readers, ballot papers and result sheets used during the presidential election.

The judgement is coming less than one week after Atiku inaugurated his legal team to challenge President Buhari’s victory in the keenly contested poll.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has swiftly reacted to the ruling.

In a statement by its Spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the CUPP hailed the judgement, describing it as “a positive development in the quest by Atiku to retrieve the mandate Nigerians gave to him which President Buhari and his APC stole.”
