Arrest Warrant Is On NDDC MD, Not APC Guber Candidate Nsima Ekere – Source

Contrary to media reports that a warrant of arrest was issued by a Rivers State Magistrate’s Court against Mr Nsima Ekere, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Akwa Ibom governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), findings have shown otherwise.

The reports had purported that the arrest warrant was issued against Ekere over an alleged N2.4 billion debt owed to a contractor of the NDDC.

A certain online news portal reported that a court presided over by Sir. S. D. Andrew-Jaja issued the warrant of arrest against Mr Ekere on March 5th, 2019, with charge number PMC/MSC/15/2019.

The news portal also reported that the Director of Legal Service of the NDDC, Kaltungo Moljengo, was among those named in the court order to be arrested.

But findings by THE WHISTLER indicate that the warrant of arrest was on the current Managing Director of NDDC, and not the person of Ekere, as purported in the reports.

A source close to Mr Ekere said the APC governorship candidate had quit the Commission before joining the Akwa Ibom gubernatorial race.

The source said Ekere’s name is deliberately being dragged into the matter to ruin his chances in the Akwa Ibom governorship election that is coming up on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Meanwhile, the NDDC contractor in question is Multi-Intelligence Development Ltd which is said to have been awarded a contract worth over N2.4 billion by the Commission.
