BREAKING: Police Warn Abuja Residents To Avoid Some Parts Of The City… VIOLENT Shi’ites Protest Ongoing

The Nigeria Police have warned the residents of Abuja to avoid some parts of the Federal Capital Territory amid the ongoing violent protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).

The IMN members, otherwise known as Shiites, were said to have staged another violent protest at the Federal Secretariat Abuja on Monday.

Photos on social media indicate that some of the Shiites members were hit by bullets as the police made attempt to disperse them.

A reporter with Channels Television is said to have also been hit by stray bullet in the ongoing protest.

Police Force PRO, Frank Mba, has issued a press statement on the incident, warning residents of the FCT avoid plying some routes in the city.

“There is a violent protest currently ongoing by members of the El-Zakzakky Group in some parts of the FCT – particularly the Central Business District and the Three Arms Zone. The Police are taking adequate measures to bring the situation under control.

“Citizens are advised to remain calm and avoid the affected areas in the interim. The Police will keep the public abreast with further development,” said Mba.
