Buhari Appoints New Head of Sharia Court Of Appeal
President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the name of Ibrahim Rufai Imam to the Senate for confirmation as the grand kadi rand Kadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President Buhari made the request through a letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday.

The letter reads: “In accordance with provision of section 261 of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the pleasure of forwarding the appointment of Ibrahim Rufai Imam as the grand kadi of the Sharia court of appeal of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja for confirmation,”
“Please accept the assurances of the highest esteem.”
Imam, until his appointment, was the acting Grand Kadi, who was appointed by Buhari in March, following the retirement of the former Grand Kadi of the Court.
