Those who visited included HRM Eze Dr Nkeli Nzekwe, HRM Igwe Chuba Mbakwe, HRM Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, HRH Igwe Anthony Onwekwelu, and HRH Igwe Chukwuma Bobo Orji.

Gambari, on behalf of Buhari, told the monarchs that the administration would execute more projects.

“As it is generally said in most parts of the country, when you thank somebody for what he has done, he is encouraged, and does more.

“This is an incentive for the President to do more for the country, and also for the South East”, the State House quoted Gambari as saying.

The traditional rulers said one of the projects dear to their hearts was “the Second Niger Bridge, that had been presented as an impossible task by previous administrations, but now becoming a reality under your keen watch.”

They also cited the the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

“The people of the South East are, indeed, grateful, as we have never had it so good, and on their behalf, we say DAALU (thank you),” the Presidency quoted them as saying.

Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, stated that the monarchs also hailed Buhari “for appointing Igbo sons and daughters into key positions in government”, a reason they opted to visit the State House to show their gratitude.

Incidentally, the Anambra State Government on Wednesday announced the suspension of some traditional rulers from the state, who visited the seat of power without the prior knowledge or approval of Governor Willie Obiano.

First class chiefs in the state led by the Obi of Onitsha, HRM, Igwe Alfred Achebe, had also condemned the conduct of the monarchs for visiting Abuja without notifying Obiano.
