Buhari Healthier Than 80% Of Nigerians, Says Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has certified President Muhammadu Buhari healthier than 80% of Nigerians.

Ngige’s claim comes amid controversies surrounding President Buhari’s health and the general notions that the President may not be able to spend another term in office owing to his health challenges.

“That man (Buhari) you see there is healthier than 80 percent of Nigerians,” the minister was quoted by PUNCH as telling some journalists in Awka, Anambra state, on Tuesday.

Ngige, who is a medical doctor by profession, said physically and mentally, President Buhari was sound than most citizens of the country.

“I’m a medical doctor; I can tell you authoritatively that he is healthier than most people who see his health as an issue.

“He sits for over eight hours during our executive meetings. While some of us would be going for tea break to stretch our legs, Mr President would sit on his seat continuously, drinking only water.

“I can tell you authoritatively as a medical doctor of over three decades standing that Mr President is physically and mentally healthy. He is healthier than 80 percent of Nigerians.”

The minister said the fact that the president is aged does not necessarily mean he cannot lead the country beyond 2019.

He recalled how 93-year-old Mahathir bin Mohamad allegedly saved Malaysia from one of its worst political and economic predicaments.
