Buhari To Anyim: Your Knowledge, Experience Needed For Nation Building

– Salutes Former SGF At 60

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejoiced with Nigeria’s former senate president and ex-secretary to the government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, ahead of his 60th birthday on Friday.

Buhari expressed respect for Anyim’s ability to lead with “maturity and wisdom” when he became senate president at a young age of 39 in 2000.

The President said although Anyim was clocking 60 and had served Nigeria for many years, his “wealth of knowledge and experience” were still needed for nation building.

Buhari’s congratulatory message to the former senate president was contained in a statement issued by his senior media adviser, Femi Adesina, on Thursday.

It partly reads, “The President congratulates the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on his many milestones, particularly becoming Senate President at a relatively young age, and handling the responsibility with maturity and wisdom.

“As the former SGF turns 60, President Buhari urges more commitment to nation building with the wealth of knowledge and experience gathered from many years of serving in government.

“The President prays that the Almighty God will bless Sen. Anyim with good health and longer life.”

As senator and subsequently senate president, Anyim represented the Ebonyi South constituency of Ebonyi State.
