Coronavirus: Abia Govt Relaxes Lockdown For Residents To Restock

The Abia State Government has relaxed the lockdown for two days ( Saturday and Sunday) so that residents could restock prior to the resumption of total lockdown on Monday, April 20.

The State’s commissioner for information, John Okiyi Kalu, issued the statement on Friday.

The government said the window was in line with the advice of experts even as the state works towards curbing the spread of Coronavirus.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu also said that residents should purchase facemasks during these two days.

“Abians are expected to use the two-day restocking window to acquire face masks as it is now compulsory to wear face masks before leaving home,” he said.

The governor also maintained that all borders would remain closed till further notice.

“Further directives have been given to those manning the borders to ensure tighter measures are put in place,” he added.

He also urged the people to comply with the Covid-19 regulations as his administration works to contain the virus.
