Coronavirus : Airlines Not Compliant With screening Procedures At Kano Airport

The Kano state Commissioner for Health ,Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, has confirmed that some airlines at Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) were not compliant with screening procedures for passengers who arrived the airport.

He also stated that the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had set aside millions of Naira for the upgrade of ‘Yar-Gaya centre and also for the management of the facility.

Tsanyawa who disclosed this to pressmen on Sunday however added that the ministry had resolved to meet with affected airlines and look for possible solutions so that they would begin proper screening and feeling of forms for their passengers .

He however added that following the report of the outbreak ,the kano state government moved into action to ensure that the COVID-19 was prevented in Kano state.

According to him, the state had established an emergency and response committee and developed incident action plan .

Others ,he said, were activation of Rapid Response Team (RRT) and reactivation of the state Isolation centre at ‘Yar-Gaya.

The state, he said, was also collaborating with MAKIA Railway and NURTW authorities for screening and reporting of suspects.
