The World Health Organization (WHO), Africa Region says maintaining physical distancing is a core preventive measure against covid-19, among others.
Covid-19 cases in Africa have crossed 590,000 as of Monday.
WHO had also noted that if health measures were not adhered to, there could be a spike in the continent.
In a tweet on Tuesday, WHO Africa Region, buttressed that physical distancing was crucial because some covid-19 cases do not show symptoms.
Hence, it advised that behavioural change was needed for the moment, so as to curb the covid-19 spread.
It also added that people should avoid large gatherings and crowded places.
“As lockdowns are easing, be sure that you are still protecting yourself and others from #COVID19.
“Avoid large crowds and keep at least 1m distance from others,” it tweeted.
Other covid-19 health protocols outlined by WHO are as follows: wearing of facemask, constant washing of hands, among others.
