Covid-19: Botswana President Rejects Resignation Of Deputy Coordinator

Botswana’s Deputy Coordinator, Covid-19 Task Team, Professor Mosepele Mosepele, has resigned.

Press Secretary to the President, Batihalefi Lesgajang, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

“The office of the President wishes to confirm that His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi has received a letter of resignation from the Covid-19 Task Team, Deputy Coordinator, Professor Mosepele Mosepele,” it stated.

It is currently not yet clear why the Professor resigned.

Our Correspondent , however, gathered from the Twitter reactions, that Mosepele, an Infectious Disease Expert, has worked in various medical interventions in the country but lately, has undisclosed scores to settle with some government officials, regarding the management of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the government stated that it is not accepting his resignation.

“His Excellency has not accepted Professor Mosepele’s letter and he has scheduled a meeting with him tomorrow,” it added.

Furthermore, it urged citizens to remain calm and keep complying with the public health advisory on covid-19.
