Covid-19 Data: Nigeria Records 2,112 Cases, 827 Recoveries In One Week

Nigeria has recorded a total of 827 recoveries in the last one week between May 15 and 22.

According to official data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reviewed by THEWHISTLER, the country last week recorded an increase of 2,112 in the number of Coronavirus infected persons

Within the same period, Nigeria also recorded 60 fatalities from COVID-19.

As of Saturday morning, Nigeria had a total of 7,261 confirmed coronavirus cases, out of which 2,007 have recovered while 221 have died.

Last Week’s Timeline

On Friday May 15 ,288  new cases of the pandemic were recorded.

with 140 patients discharged on the day under review the country lost 4 lives.

On Saturday , 176 new cases of COVID-19 were reported as 152 cases were discharged while 5 died.

On Sunday, 338 new cases of COVID-19 were reported.
However the country recorded 122 recoveries and 6 deaths.

On Monday, 216 new cases were reported.
50 patients were discharged and 9 deaths recorded.

On Tuesday , 226 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded with 90 recoveries and 1 death.

On Wednesday , 284  new cases of the virus were reported.


The country’s daily recovery for this day stood at 126 while 10 people died.

On Thursday , while 339 new cases of the pandemic were reported, 47 recoveries were recorded with 9 deaths.

The NCDC however reported 339 new cases of the pandemic on Friday(22nd), 100 recoveries and 10 deaths.

Out of the thirty-six states and the FCT, only Cross River and Kogi States are yet to record any case of the infection.

The zero-case record of the two states has however generated controversies amongst experts and as many are of the opinion that it may be due to lack of appropriate testing.
