The state deputy governor, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, said the gesture was a manifestation of the commitment of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration towards curtailing the spread of the Covid-19 as well as empowering tailors in the state.

Hon Ezeilo, while advising the beneficiaries to always wear face masks, further called on them to wash and iron them often.

According to her, “Those already experiencing respiratory symptoms, like coughing and sneezing; the elderly and those with chronic and underlying medical conditions, must wear medical face masks and not cloth face masks.”

Gov Ugwuanyi’s administration, she stated, had been tackling the COVID-19 and its attendant socio-economic challenges from every front through palliatives as well as implementation of economic and health related measures.

In her words, “These face masks are personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect us, and reduce our exposure to infectious health hazards, such as COVID-19 and its harmful effects that could include death. Wear them always and correctly; and always keep them clean.”

The event was witnessed by the speaker of the state Assembly, Rt Hon Edward Ubosi; chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Igwe Amb Lawrence Agubuzu, and the state chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Solomon Onah.
