COVID-19: First Bank confirms Employee’s Death, Shuts Kano Main Branch

First Bank Nigeria has shut down its regional branch in Kano State after its employee,  Abdullahi Lawal, who tested positive for coronavirus, died.

In a statement  by the bank, the  Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication, Folake Ani-Mumuney, urged  all staff and customers, who might have been in contact with the deceased to self-isolate.

“First Bank mourns as we confirm the loss of our employee  Abdullahi Lawal, who until his passing worked at our Kano Main Branch.
 
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. 

“We have immediately therefore shut down access to the premises as we disinfect the entire location and ask all staff and customers who may have been in contact with our late colleague to follow the NCDC guidelines and self-isolate,” the bank said.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that  Lawal was feeling well on Friday before he suffered high fever, intermittent cough, and respiratory hiccups.

He was  rushed to a private hospital after he showed symptoms of the virus,but was not given immediate medical attention, according to  reports.

A  Kano based private clinic subsequently  referred the patient to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he died.
