COVID-19: Nigeria Records 179 New Cases Amid Nationwide Protest

Nigeria has recorded 179 new confirmed cases of the infectious virus amid ongoing nationwide protest to end police brutality.

With Lagos alone accounting for 116 cases, and Anambra seconding the chart with 20 new cases, the total hits 60,834.

Also, 52,143 have reportedly recovered and 1,116 dead so far.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), however, warned that the ongoing social movement across the country may inflame the second phase of the virus.

It urged Nigerians to adhere to preventive guidelines while protesting as the virus looks out for opportunities of proximity to spread.
