COVID-19: Oyo Records 53 As Figure Jumps To 570

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that the state recorded fresh 53 cases of COVID-19.

The governor, who announced this on his Twitter handle on Monday, said the new cases were recorded on July 26.

He said with the new cases, the total number of coronavirus cases in he stage had risen to 2, 570.

The tweet reads, ” The COVID-19 confirmation tests for fifty-three (53) suspected cases came back positive.

“The cases are from Ibadan South West (12), Akinyele (10), Ibadan North (6), Egbeda (5), Ido (4), Ogbomosho North (4), Oluyole (4), Lagelu (3), Ibadan North West (2), Ibadan North East (2) and Ona Ara (1) LGAs. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 2570.”

The new cases came just after the state government threatened to arrest any resident of the state that refused to wear a face mask in the public.

The governor urged the people of the state to call call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800 or visit a community-based testing centre, if they had any COVID-19 symptoms:.

The symptoms, he said, included ” cough, fever, tiredness, body ache, loss of smell/taste and shortness of breath.”
