COVID-19: With 550 New Cases, Nigeria Exceeds 70,000 Infections In 10 Months

Nigeria has recorded 550 new cases of COVID-19 in 17 states – the highest daily infections to be reported since the last quarter of 2020.

On Tuesday, Lagos recorded 219 new cases, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) – 168 and Kaduna – 52, thereby raising concerns about the possibility of a second wave of the virus being experienced in the country.

These new figures take the total confirmed cases to 70,195, while the total death toll increased to 1,182 after one infected person died on December 8.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the 163 recoveries recorded on Tuesday take the total number of discharged persons to 65,110.
