Ondo Monarch Asks For Protection After Hoodlums Burnt Palace

The traditional ruler of Ode Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Sunday Boboye has cried out for protection after hoodlums destroyed his palace on Tuesday, the second time in a week.

After some youths burnt down his first palace last week, Oba Boboye moved to the second palace and his attackers allegedly invaded the second palace again on Tuesday and destroyed it.

The monarch, following the second attack, has cried out to the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The monarch said, “I want the IGP and other security agencies to order an investigation into this matter.

” This is a clear case of arson, intimidation, and attempts to kill me and wipe out my family.”

The constant attack, it was gathered,was not unconnected to a land dispute between Ode and Isinigbo, a neighbouring community.

Residents told journalists the hoodlums stormed the Ode community about 12.05am on Tuesday and shot indiscriminately while everyone was asleep.

Shortly after, they allegedly moved to the second palace of the traditional ruler where they continued the shooting.

A resident of the community who identified himself as Ayo Agbebi, said the entire community was awakened when the hoodlums entered the town and started shooting.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the attack.

The PPRO said the command had deployed its men to the community to restore peace.

He added that an investigation had begun into the matter while vowing that the police would apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.
