Dino Melaye Reacts To Tribunal Nullification Of His Election Victory, Says No Cause For Alarm
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye has reacted to the National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal judgement that nullified his election.
This was in a judgement delivered on Friday by a three-man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke.

The tribunal therefore ordered that fresh elections be held in the senatorial district.
Reacting on his Twitter handle shortly after the judgement, the controversial senator says: “On Tribunal judgement. No cause 4 alarm at all. Even if it went my way they will still go to the Appeal Court. Our mandate can not be taken. We will get judgment at the Appeal Court. There will be fresh election in Kogi West bc I will be Governor. For my Senate mandate no shaking.”

Mr Melaye’s closest rival, Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress APC, had challenged his victory at the tribunal.
Adeyemi challenged Melaye’s victory on the ground that there were cases of irregularities including over-voting and non-compliance to the electoral act.
Before his election into the senate in 2015 and 2019, Melaye was a member of the House of Representatives representing Kabba/Ijumu federal constituency.
He recently declared his intention to contest for the Kogi State gubernatorial election on the platform of his party which would be held within the last quarter of 2019.
