Drama As Sacked Agric Minister Fails To Attend Hand-Over Ceremony

There was mild drama at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Monday as the sacked Minister, Sabo Nanono refused to show up for a handover meeting with the new minister.

Directors and staff of the Ministry who had occupied the Minister’s conference room to witness the handover over ceremony as well as welcome the new minister, Mohammed Mahmoud Abubakar, were however disappointed as both the sacked and the new minister refused to show up.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ernest Umakhihe, after some minutes of waiting, announced the postponement of the meeting, without a specific date.

The Director of Information of the ministry, Theodore Ogaziechi, told our correspondent that the reason for the postponement was unknown to them.

He also said that no one knows when the meeting will be called again, as it was postponed till further notice.

“It was the Permanent Secretary that announced it, I do not know anything about why it was postponed, and we do not know when the next date will be,” he said.

Recall that President Buhari five days ago, sacked two ministers from his cabinet with the affected ministers being the Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono, and the Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman.

The sack of the two ministers, which was announced by the Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina came after two years and few days that they were inaugurated by the President in 2019 alongside 41 of their colleagues.
