DSS Confirms Gumi’s Invitation

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed that it summoned popular Islamic Scholar, Ahmed Gumi, to its head office.

DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, confirmed Gumi’s invitation to The Nation.

The cleric’s invitation followed his alleged claim that some “bad elements” in the security agencies were colluding with bandits.

Gumi made the claim while featuring on Arise Television on Wednesday, stressing that bandits shouldn’t get the bulk of the blame.

In their response, the Nigerian Army refuted the claim and described it as a calculated plan to undermine its efforts to restore peace across the country.

Meanwhile, the DSS did not give further information as to why Gumi was summoned.

“It’s not out of place for the Service to invite any person of interest,” Afunanya said.
