The ongoing Edo state governorship election has witnessed massive vote buying by the two main political parties; All Progressives Congress (APC), and Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
Supporters of the APC were seen distributing money at the polling unit where the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, voted in Benin City, the state capital.
The Whistler further learnt from our correspondents on ground that the parties are giving N3,000 to N4,000 for votes in ward 6 units 1,9 and 10 inside the Uniben staff School, Ovia north east.
Also, we gathered that party agents are doling out N1,000 to voters at PU12/14/07/007, Ovia North East LG.
In Oredo ward 2, security personnel allegedly turn blind eye to vote buying in Garrick memorial school and Egor ward 1 ,unit 17, Ogbonwan school.

Meanwhile, travelers are currently trapped along the ever-busy Benin-Ore expressway.
Some heavily-armed policemen, who blocked the road, insisted that any driver that wants to pass must part with an ‘election fee’.
“Today na election, pay if you want to pass; It is order from above,” one of the officers said repeatedly.
Meanwhile, thugs have hijacked a ballot box in Orhionmwon Iyoba ward unit 5.
The box was, however, recovered.
