EFCC Nabs 6 ‘Yahoo Boys’ In Abuja

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have nabbed six suspected internet fraudsters, known otherwise as ‘Yahoo boys’, in Abuja, the commission said on Wednesday.

This comes barely a week after the EFCC raided the popular club 57 nightlife spot in the Lekki area of Lagos State, where they arrested at least 12 suspected internet fraudsters.

In its latest operation, the EFCC said via its Twitter: “A sting operation in Kubwa, Abuja following intelligence report has resulted in arrest of six ‘yahoo yahoo’ boys. 4 ECOWAS Int’l passports, 17 phones & Certificate of Award of Asian Professional Security Association in favour of Sun Yaje were recovered from them among others.”

THE WHISTLER reports that there has been a rise recently in the number of sting operations carried out by operatives of the anti-graft agency against activities of ‘Yahoo boys’.

It would be recalled that as part of its crackdown on cybercrime and money laundering in the country, the EFCC had in April 2018, arrested some suspected internet fraudsters in Lekki, Lagos State, from whom it recovered exotic cars and charms.
