Ekiti Abducted Pupils, Teachers Discharged From Hospital

The five pupils and three teachers of The Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, that were abducted by gunmen and recently released have been discharged from hospital on Sunday.

Among those kidnapped was a driver and his assistant when the gunmen attacked a schoolbus conveying the pupils and their teachers.

While the kidnappers had released the victims, the bus driver was reportedly killed after the assailants had collected ransom.

Upon their release from kidnappers den, the Ekiti State Government took custody of the victims and checked them into the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

However, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, confirmed that the pupils and their teachers were discharged on Sunday.

“After ensuring their release, we had to ensure that they are properly treated by various medical teams. They have been discharged, we would be returning them to their community,” said Filani.
