Ekweremadu, Saraki, Sanwo-Olu Back Super Eagles To Defeat Egypt

Ahead of the opening match between Egypt and Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations, prominent Nigerians have backed the Eagles to win the clash.

Egypt is a-seven-time winner of the AFCON, while Nigeria has won the prestigious trophy three times.

Both countries are the heavyweights in the Group D and have met 18 times with Nigeria winning eight.

Egypt have won five, while the rest ended in a draw.

Speaking ahead of the encounter at the Stade Omnisport de Garoua in Garoua, Cameroon, prominent politicians like the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, have expressed confidence in the team.

Sanwo-Olu said, “As our very own Super Eagles face the Pharaoh of Egypt today, in their first match at the AFCON competition in Cameroon, here’s wishing them the strength, the speed and the agility of an eagle, may they also soar like the eagles they are.

“Lagos and indeed the whole of Nigeria is rooting for them. We’re proud of them, and salute them for their dedication, hard work and resilience.

“Wherever the pendulum swings, they are and will always be our Champions.”

Former Senate President, Saraki, in his goodwill message wished the team a successful clash against Egypt.

He said, “As the AFCON begins today, I wish our Super Eagles a successful outing! #SoarSuperEagles, know that the entire nation is rooting for you!”

Also, former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, said his “prayers are with the Nigeria Super Eagles as they begin their campaign at the AFCON2021 against the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Stade Roumde Adjia, Garoua, Cameroon. Good luck, Boys. Up Eagles!”
