#EndSARS: I Can’t Speak On ‘Dismissal’ Of Dolapo Badmus, Yomi Shogunle – Force PRO

The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, has declined to speak on the alleged dismissal of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yomi Shogunle, and Chief Superintendent of Police, Dolapo Badmus, among 37 recently disciplined police officers.

Speaking to THE WHISTLER in a phone interview on Saturday, Mba said he was not authorized to speak on any disciplinary action taken by the Police Service Commission (PSC)

About 37 police officers were said to have been dimissed in connection to activities of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Force.

“It is not within my purview to speak on matters related to discipline of police officers. There’s a constitutional body called the Police Service Commission (PSC).

“They are constitutionally and statutorily charged with the responsibility of handling all issues relating to general discipline of police officers,” said the Force PRO.

The PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, had earlier in the week announced that a report of the Presidential Panel on Reform of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad set up in 2018 had, “recommended 37 police officers for dismissal and 24 were recommended for prosecution.”

Meanwhile, a list trending on social media has identified ACP Shogunle and CSP Badmus among 37 others that were disciplined by the PSC.

Shogunle was the head of the Police Public Complaint Response Unit (PPCRU), while Badmus is the immediate past Lagos Police Public Relations Officer.

The list was released on Twitter by a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team, Ayo Akanji, on Saturday.

Efforts to get the PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, to confirm the names on the list were unsuccessful. Below is the full list:
