A popular business place at the Independent Layout, Enugu, was a beehive of activities as exhibitors were showcasing their products and services to mark the celebration. Tourists were also seen at some parks in the state metropolis.

The chairman of Enugu State Bar Owners Association, Hon Hilary Onah, said, “Enugu State is not an IPOB-state, so I doubt if anybody would observe the sit-at-home order by the group. I have not seen any sign of compliance because things are just as usual.”

At Obollo-Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of the state, a trader, Innocent Eze, said, “I doubt anything about sit-at-home here. People are hungry and angry, so nobody will heed to such order when we are battling to survive.”

Observations by our correspondent showed that the normal activities in the state capital were going on, with a slight reduction mainly because the federal government declared a public holiday to mark the nation’s independence.

He further urged the residents to contact the police on 08032003702, 08086671202, 08075390883 or 08098880172 if they suspected any illegal movement.
