Onuchuku lamented that his family has been the only one soldering the medical expenses of the police officer.

In his words: “The police abandoned him. They have not visited him till today.”

He appealed to the Rivers State Government to intervene as his brother will still need surgery to remove bullets from his body.

“After the attack that happened last Saturday, in the morning they transferred the DPO and brought a new one. Both the old and new one, none is ready to take care of him. I need help from government. He has fracture on the side of his rib. The bullet is still inside. They have not talked about it. They want the body to be healthy before talking about surgery.”

This is coming 24 hours after Governor Nyesom Wike redeemed his pledge of 280 million naira to families of the 14 security personnel murdered by gunmen during a recent attack on security formations in parts of Rivers State.

Cheques were presented to 11 widows of police officers, family members of two Airforce officers, and one widow of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) official.
