FG Partners Google To Train 400, 000 Youths

The Federal Government on Tuesday announced a partnership with Google and other high profile tech companies to provide innovative technology solutions to a wide range of business, commerce and government.

The project which was announced by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo includes the establishment of two technology super hubs in Abuja, Lagos and the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Osinbajo, who said this at the launch of Google digital training for youth empowerment in Abuja, added that the scheme would commence in the current 2016 budget with the training of 65,000 youths across the country.

The Vice President commended Google for the tech giant’s commitment to facilitate the training for 400,000 young people in the country, saying the move is a new future for the youths as it is contributory to national planning and economic development.

Osinbajo assured that all agencies of government were determined to give every opportunity possible to the youth particularly in the area of technology and innovation.

He stressed that President Muhammadu Buhari is bent on developing young people in Nigeria on innovative technology, stating that the government had launched a technology start-up in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, with presentation of prospective participants already concluded.
