Flamingos Coach Targets U-17 Women’s World Cup Glory
Flamingos coach, Bankole Olowookere, has set his sights on winning the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, describing the country as a blessed land for Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the Super Falcons won a record 10th WAFCON trophy in Casablanca, Morocco in July.
The 9th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Morocco between 17 October, and 8 November.
Olowookere is confident that the Flamingos can go all the way in the tournament.
He said: “After our seniors (Super Falcons) achieved that feat, I’ve called Morocco’ the land of blessings for Nigeria in the year 2025’ and I’m a bit spiritual about my football, if anybody has done something good in this world you’ve to follow that step. I’ve seen something that they’ve done and I’ve been able to put it into my own program too as well so I can get something better.
“So, the land of Morocco, this year is for Nigeria. I’m seeing it by the grace of God, as God lives this year is Nigeria time, it’s our period. We’re going there to achieve.

“Even the men are too. It’s a land of destiny that God has given us. I’ve stepped into that place and work is going on, it’s not something that we can just go and pick.
“We’re going to work towards it, the players are working hard, the technicians are working hard to achieve it for Nigeria.”
Nigeria’s best-ever performance in the U-17 Women’s World Cup was a third-placed finish in the 2022 edition in India.
North Korea are the defending champions, having lifted their record third title in 2024.
It will be the first edition to feature 24 teams and be played annually. Four from AFC (Asia) , five from CAF (Africa); (including Morocco), four from CONCACAF (North America), four from CONMEBOL (South America), five from UEFA (Europe), and two from OFC(Oceania).
