Gov Ikpeazu Signs N102.66bn Revised 2020 Budget

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, on Thursday signed the state’s  revised 2020 Budget of N102.66bn.

The N102.66bn budget tagged “Budget Of Economic Repositioning” was revised downwards from the N137.4bn earlier approved in December 2019.

The budget was cut by  N34.7bn following the drop in state revenues and monthly allocation from the  Federal Account Allocation Committee as a result of COVID- 19.

The governor while signing the revised budget into law at Government House, Umuahia, lauded the leadership of the State House of Assembly for their speedy passage of the bill.

Ikpeazu said  the state was  facing economic challenges like other states in the country, adding that the budget was reduce to reflect current economic realities.

The Governor also lauded the  partnership between the state legislators and the executives, noting that the relationship has made the state become one of the most politically stable states in the country.
