A pressure group, Media Advocacy for Anti-Corruption has advised the Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye to be patriotic, meticulous, selfless and civil in carrying out his over sight function.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos recently, the national coordinator of the group, Comrade James Okoronkwo noted that while he appreciates the constitutional responsibility of the Senator Dino Maleye-led committee to over sight the Federal Capital Territory administration, he deplores the intemperate, malicious allegations / conclusion and order issued to the Department of Development Control to stop work on some plots in the Maitama district which according to him were legally allocated to some well-meaning Nigerians that served our nation meritoriously by the immediate past minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed.

Speaking further, Okoronkwo stated that Senator Maleye’s call for the revocation of the plots in the high-brow Maitama district was solely motivated by a selfish design saying “that Nigerians can no longer be deceived by the antics of the likes of Maleye who rode to national prominence under the guise of activism”.

The national coordinator noted that ex-minister of FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed acted within his powers in the management of land in the territory and also that the Abuja Master Plan is not inviolable and that previous ministers of the FCT had in the past managed the plan to achieve a functional and harmonious development of the city.
