GTB, Access Bank, Others Record Loss As All Share Index Declines By 1.1%
Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) started on a negative note as the share prices of Guarantee Trust Bank Plc (GTB) and Access Bank Plc. fell by -0.7% and -1.5% respectively, while the All share Index (ASI) fell by 105bps to end at 27,773.20 points.
The fall in the ASI during the Monday trade was as a result of the sell-offs in NESTLE which fell by (-10.0%), MTNN also fell by (-1.7%) and GTB (-0.7%).

Market capitalization declined by N153.6 billion to N14.464 trillion in the first day trading session.
The trade level weakened due to decline in the volume of activities which fell by 34.1% to 200.2 units, and value by 69.9% to N1.9 billion.
The most active stocks by volume of activities were First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBNH) which traded 35.9 million units, TRANSCORP 24.6 million units and Zenith 18.6 million.
MTNN led the market by value with N 462.3 million, as Zenith Bank Plc followed closely with N 369.1 and NESTLE traded N268 million.

Across the sectors, the insurance indices gained by (+0.9%) and industrial goods increase by (+0.8%).
The gain in the two sectors was due to price appreciation in LAW UNION which rose by (+8.1%), PRESTIGE (+9.3%) and BUA CEMENT which also rose by (+1.7%).
Leading the sectoral loss, the consumer goods index depreciated by (-4.7%) due to price weakness in NESTLE (-10.0%) and VITAFOAM which suffered (-7.7%) loss.The banking sector witnessed (-0.8%) decline due to the loss recorded by GTB, FBNH and Access Bank, which lost (-0.7%),(-2.5%) and (-1.5%) respectively.
Similarly, the Oil and Gas indices suffered (-0.6%) decline following OANDO loss of (-4.2%).
