Gunmen Attack Hotel in Ebonyi, One Killed, Vehicles Destroyed

Violence erupted in Ebonyi State on Sunday as gunmen targeted a hotel in the Ezzamgbo axis of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

According to reports, the attack, which began in the early hours of the morning, resulted in the death of one person and the burning of several vehicles.

This latest incident comes amidst a string of violent acts in Ohaukwu, with gunmen previously targeting a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator and a female security vigilante member in recent weeks.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the hotel, which is allegedly owned by the Ohaukwu Local Government Area Chairman, Ikechukwu Odono. They opened fire for several hours, leading to the death of one person and causing significant damage to vehicles parked on the premises.

The cause of the attack and the identity of the gunmen remain unclear. However, Ebonyi State Police have confirmed the incident and the death of one person. Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that several vehicles were set ablaze by the attackers. Police investigations are currently underway to apprehend those responsible.
