Gunmen Invade Oyo Community, Kidnap Cassava Farmer From Residence

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have invaded Igangan community in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State and kidnapped a popular cassava farmer identified as Monsuru Aderoju, alias Olowoege.

Sources told our correspondent that the incident happened on Monday evening at Olowoege’s residence located at Oke Agbede area of Igangan.

THE WHISTLER had reported how a businesswoman, Mrs Shekinat Adisa, was said to have been kidnapped from her filling station located at Igbo-Ara in the Ibarapa area of the state.

Adisa’s corpse was later found in a nearby bush. During the abduction, two kids of about nine years old, who were cousins, were reportedly shot and killed by the hoodlums.

Meanwhile, Monsuru was said to have returned back home when his attackers came and carried him away.

This kidnapping incident, which occurred hours after cases of kidnappings and killings in the state, were recorded in the same local government.

The Convener of Igangan Development Advocates, Mr Oladokun Oladiran, told our correspondent that Monsuru was abducted inside his compound.

He said Monsuru was abducted after the 8pm Muslim prayer , saying the kidnappers were suspected to have attended the prayer session with him

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, did not pick the calls placed to his telephone and was yet to reply to the inquiry sent to his phone by our correspondent.
