The shooting started after the Speaker, Ugonna Ozuruigbo, announced the suspension of six members of the state assembly.

Ozuruigbo hinged the suspension on “unparliamentary conduct” of the lawmakers.

The suspended Chief Whip, Arthur Egwim, was said to have been replaced by Obinna Okwara

All standing committees of the assembly were also reportedly suspended.
