Hardship: Council Chairman Who Diverted Palliatives Sacked By Kogi Governor

The Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo has sacked Hassan Atawodi from his role as the Transition Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area.

His removal came after Atawodi was implicated in the diversion of state government palliatives intended for distribution across the 21 local government areas.

The palliatives, aimed at alleviating the economic hardships causing protests nationwide, were distributed on February 24, 2024, at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja.

Governor Ododo, during the unveiling, sternly warned against hoarding, emphasizing the commitment to aiding the vulnerable without political, religious, or ethnic bias.

“These food items are for the downtrodden irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation in fulfilment of our campaign promises to bring succour to the poorest of the poor members of the society,” Ododo had said.

A statement from the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, disclosed that the dismissal aligns with Ododo’s stance against corruption in his administration.
