How Contracting Covid-19 Changed My Perception About Making $100m Before Turning 40 – IROKO TV Founder

Nigerian business mogul and founder of iRokoTV, Jason Njoku, said contracting Covid-19 has made him prioritise his family over his 15-year-old ambition to hit $100 million in net worth before turning 40.

Njoku, whose web platform provides paid-for Nigerian films on-demand, disclosed this in a tweet on Friday, about 34 days after recovering from the virus.

The entrepreneur had tested positive for COVID-19 alongside his wife, Mary Remmy Njoku, on October 28, but was discharged on November 7 as he continued to recover from home.

Njoku, who is estimated to worth about $40 million, clocked 40 years on December 11 2020. His iRokoTv has been dubbed the ‘Netflix’ of Africa.

But according o him, he does not regret not hitting his dream target of $100million before clocking 4o.

He wrote, “When I left university, I wanted to be worth $100m by the time I was 40. 15years later and Today I am 40.

“I’m not worth $100m but Lying face. Mrs Njoku says if it makes me feel any better that at least I am worth N100m Pleading face. As I’ve aged money has taken a back seat to family.

“The only regret I had was not spending enough time with my wife & kids, I thought I’d spent plenty. Yet my constant regret was that it wasn’t enough. So, ambition aside, I’m dedicating my life to ensuring if there are regrets, time with loved ones isn’t one of them.”

In 2013, Forbes had tipped Njoku to be one of the savvy internet millionaires who could possibly hit billions of dollars through his company.

iRokoTV had raised over $10 million in venture funding from New York based Tiger Global Management and $2 million from Swedish investment firm, Kinnevik.
