How Masquerades Violated Sit-At-Home Order

Markets, schools, filling stations and banks, Monday, complied with the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

However, masquerades flouted the order at Orba, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The masquerades paraded unhindered. They also beat up, collected stipends and freely danced to the admiration of residents when THE WHISTLER saw them.

A resident of the area, Madam Chinenye Okeke, said, “Today is their day. Before now, they were restricted from operating because they were violating the rules. Some inflicted injuries on people.”

An adherent of the practice, Moses Ogu, said, “Nobody can stop our culture. We regulate their operations. So all is well. If they violate the rule, we sanction them.”

However, a motorcyclist, Hyginus Mba, said, “They beat me today. I was carrying a female passenger when they halted us and demanded some money. I gave them N50 and they refused. They beat me.”

THE WHISTLER observed absence of security operatives at Orba market where the masquerades operated.

The residents were seen cheering them, though from their respective abodes as the sit-at-home order was obliged completely.

Our correspondent reports that the sit-at-home order by the IPOB is gradually becoming an accepted routine on Mondays in the southeast.
