I Will Secure, Surpass Dickson’s Legacy – Tari

A governorship aspirant in Bayelsa state, Tari Oba Oliver, has promised to improve on the achievements of the incumbent governor, Dickson, as well as secure the legacy of the Restoration Administration.

Oba Oliver, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) told this newspaper in Abuja that her decision to join the race was to leverage on human capital development and technological advances.

“Bayelsa State has in the past 8 years experienced impressive developmental growth considering her limited allocated resources; the state has grown in several areas that include healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure as well as human capital development, and maintaining this pace with key improvements in the development of human capital is paramount especially with fast moving technological advances.

“It is with this in mind that I decided to run for the Office of Governor of our dear Bayelsa State with a robust plan to improve on current advances made by the restoration administration,” she said.

According to her, giving her background as a technocrat and a seasoned politician, she has no illusion that the party will look her way as a statement that women have come of age and the youths have a place in governance.

“I will describe myself as a technocrat and a seasoned politician who has been a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party for 16 years now and counting. The party picking me as its candidate for the governorship election will make a bold statement on gender and youth inclusion.

“As to my programmes, I intend to focus on and intensify the ongoing restoration projects with emphasis on youth and women inclusion, diversify the state economy by encouraging private and public sector initiatives, creating incentives and a conducive business environment to ensure businesses thrive and in turn grow the economy,” she stated.
