Imo Govt To Prosecute Illegal Revenue Collectors

The Imo State Government is set to prosecute all illegal revenue collectors in the state and people who fail to observe the safety protocols for Covid-19 in public places.

Governor Hope Uzodinma issued the stern warning on Thursday after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.

The governor said he had received reports about the nefarious activities of illegal revenue collectors who go about in the state extorting residents.

He maintained that the ban on use of consultants by agencies to collect revenue for the government was still in place and warned that anyone caught collecting revenue in the name of the government would be apprehended and prosecuted.

The governor, who celebrated his one year in office, said the abuse of safety protocols issued by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) would also get the attention of the government.
