IPOB Agitation Caused By South East Leaders– Ohanaeze Youths

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, Wednesday, blamed governors of southeast states for the emergence of pro Biafra groups including the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).

The national president of OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, also said Buhari’s administration had not treated the IPOB and pro-Biafra groups with ‘a little tinge of fairness as even enjoyed by the real terrorists since inception’.

The president, who spoke in Enugu, said that IPOB members were ‘only guilty of seeking the sovereign state of Biafra.’

The council blamed the victimization and intimidation meted to the freedom agitators on southeast governors, led by
Gov David Umahi.

Igboayaka said Igbo leaders, during their meeting in Enugu, yesterday, ‘merely condemn[ed] their sons and shut their minds against proffering possible solutions’.

According to him, “Unfortunately, the southeast governors are not sincere.

“They can’t offer solutions to the security tension in southeast because the existence Ipob/ESN has offered the southeast governors and other political vampires an opportunity to threaten the political environment and blame it on IPOB.

“The condemning and rejecting of IPOB by the supposed southeast leaders have not yielded any positive results. Why would southeast governors, stakeholders and religious leaders continue to use the same failed approach over self-determination issues in Igbo land?

“Why would they continue to use the same method and expect a different result?

“The northern region has good leaders who look inwardly to ascertain the cause of the abnormal acts of their Fulani children and hastily sought for lasting solutions.

“We have political and religious leaders from Fulani/Hausa extraction who devote their time to knowing why their youths are recruited into banditry and Boko Haram groups, and make out time to discuss with them passionately.

“But in the southeast, we have leaders who selfishly believe that Biafra is a taboo.

“These so-called leaders occasionally converge in Enugu in the name of Southeast Governors’ Forum, stakeholders and religious leaders only to condemn their sons without correction or solutions.

“We have elders that have forgotten Igbo philosophy of life that ‘when you use the right hand to beat a child, you use the left hand to draw the child close.

“Igbo elders have bathed a dirty child and thrown both the child and dirty water away.”

Comrade Igboayaka accused southeast leaders of being responsible for the cry for injustice and marginalization by Massob, IPOB and other self-determination agitators in the region.

In his words, “The 75% cry over injustice and marginalization by Massob, IPOB and other self-determination agitators in southeast is caused by southeast leaders.

“As a result of a failed government in the southeast, that couldn’t provide a security outfit when Ndigbo needed it as regards the activities of dreaded fulani herdmen, IPOB took laws into their hands basically on self-preservation and self-defence.

“Until southeast leaders boldly come out and play a sincere fatherly role, the quest for Biafra, instead of being a means for liberation for the long-age marginalization and injustices to Ndigbo, will turn Alaigbo to a desolate and a land of anarchy.”
