JAMB Introduces New Literature Texts For Five Language Subjects

The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has introduced some new texts for four language subjects namely; Arabic, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa as well as Literature in English.

The exam body made this known in its weekly bulletin released on Monday, adding that the changes would take effect from the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The new texts for Literature-in-English include Lion and the Jewel by Wole Syinka, Look Back in Anger by John Osbourne, Second Class Citizen by Buchi Emecheta, Unexpected Joy at Dawn by Alex Agyei Agyiri and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

The new texts for Hausa language are Turmin Danya (prose), Wakokin Hausa (poetry), Abin Da Kamar Wuya (drama).

JAMB earlier announced that it had introduced two new science subjects to the UTME, which are Physical Eduation and Computer Science.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this known on Saturday.

“We are asking and sensitising the public, particularly the students, who are to take the exam, that these are two science subjects that will be added to their choice to widen opportunities for candidates to be able to access tertiary education,” he said.
