President Idriss Deby of Chad has given credence to the news by the Nigerian Army that it killed Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shakau during the reign of former President Goodluck Jonathan, as Commander in-Chief of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Chadian President, who made this know while reveling the identity of the new leader of the Islamist sect, Mahamat Dauud said that the picking of the new leader has confirmed the speculation that Abubakar Shekau may indeed been killed by the Nigerian Army.

Deby, who disclosed that the face of Boko Haram had been replaced by Mahamat Daoud — who has not been heard of before, is the same man who had claimed to have contacted the Boko Haram sect for negotiations with the Nigerian authorities, which turned out to be a huge scam.

The Chadian leader has once more claimed that the new Boko Haram leader has reached out to him for negotiations.

The Buhari administration had insisted that it was ready to negotiate with what it termed genuine Boko Haram members.
