JUST IN: 410 Terrorists Surrender In Nasarawa, As Troops Smash Bomb Factory

A total of 410 members of Darul Salem terrorist group, including women and children, have surrendered to troops of operation WHIRL STROKE and other security agencies, the Defence Headquarters have said.

The members of the sect surrendered to the troops at Uttu in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on August 25.

Spokesman of the defence headquarters, John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement posted Thursday on the twitter handle of the force.

He said the surrendering followed the continuation of “aggressive clearance operations aimed at decisively riding the North-Central zone of armed banditry and other forms of criminality.”

According to Enenche, troops, in a similar development, stormed a Darul Salam terrorists’ bomb-making factory on August 26 following actionable technical and human intelligence on the activities of the terrorists in the general area.

He disclosed that explosive devices were recovered during the operation.

The defence spokesman said: “In the course of the operation, troops recovered several Improvised Explosive Device making materials at the location including 2 scales, 6 rocket launcher bombs, one bag of fertilizer, half a bag of gun powder, 10 locally made hand grenades, one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb fuse, one locally made Rocket Launcher, 2 Improvised Explosive Devices,13 Improvised rocket bombs, amongst others.”

The camp, he added, was subsequently destroyed, noting that  troops were equally combing the surrounding forests in search for fleeing members of the sect.
