JUST IN: Buhari Arrives Nigeria After ‘Technical Stopover’ In London

President Muhammadu Buhari’s aircraft has touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 10:17 p.m. from London, the United Kingdom.

Buhari arrived the country on Thursday after stopping over at the British capital while returning from his two-day visit to the United States where he had met with President Donald Trump.

Mallam Garba Shehu, the special assistant on media and publicity to Buhari, had earlier said that the president stopped over in London to avoid overworking the small jet he used in travelling to the U.S.

“The big jet is under repair. It has been taken for major repairs. So the president is using a small plane and there is a limit to the distance the small plane can cover,” Shehu had said.

“It is a routine thing. The plane can do Abuja-Washington, that’s about 12 hours and the maximum the plane can fly is 12 hours, 40 minutes. But you don’t need to push it to the edge,” he said.
